Dr Karolina Dwi Setyowati - Bio-Rad Laboratories Dr Karolina obtained both her BSc and her PhD from the National University of Singapore (NUS). After completing her PhD, Dr Karolina went on to become a Research Fellow at NUS and the Genome Institute of Singapore, A*Star. She has conducted several high-impact research including synthetic biology research with an emphasis on human biology, developed tools and improved technologies for genome editing with the ultimate goal of crafting human-based genomes for discovery platforms and translational applications. Now, Dr Karolina is in charge of the Digital Biology portfolio in Southeast Asia for Bio-Rad Laboratories. She also serves as a scientific technical resource to customers, including the latest techniques in genome editing. |
Dr Kumitaa Theva Das - Universiti Sains Malaysia Dr Kumitaa Theva Das completed her BSc in the US, and did her PhD in one of the pioneer labs of genome editing in the US. She has spent more than ten years working on various genome editing tools, as well as improving the efficiency of these tools. She is constantly up-to-date on the latest CRISPR system, and has more than ten on-going nationally and internationally funded CRISPR projects. She serves as a consultant for a company in genome editing projects, and has several local and international collaborations. She is a recipient of several international awards for her work in CRISPR and recently returned from the University of Oxford, where she pursued an attachment for her CRISPR project. |
Mr Choo Chee Wei - Bio-Diagnostics Mr. Choo Chee Wei obtained his Master Degree from University Putra Malaysia. Before embarking on the private sector, he was actively involved in scientific research in identifying novel epigenetic markers for the early detection of colorectal cancer. Later he joined University Kebangsaan Malaysia Haematology research team where he developed methods and protocols for the aberration epigenetic study in Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Mr. Choo joined Bio-Diagnostics in 2009. He currently holds the position of Application Specialist Manager responsible in providing effective, value-added technical support, troubleshooting as well as application discussion to clients, including in the field of CRISPR. |
Mr Tristan Tan - Neoscience Mr. Tristan graduated from University of Malaya with a Master Degree in Medical Sciences. His previous research focused mainly on the effects on monoterpenes on lipid accumulation in 3T3-L1 adipocytes, targeting to improve the conditions of obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus via a proper diet. With the molecular biology knowledge in research, Tristan joined Neoscience Sdn Bhd in 2017 as a Marketing Executive, hoping to share the new technologies and provide the right solutions to the researchers. Now Tristan assists researchers in molecular biology related questions, including in CRISPR projects. |
Ms Nadiah Mohd Nawawi -Biomed Global Ms. Nadiah graduated from University Kebangsaan Malaysia with a Master Degree in Molecular Medicine. Her previous research focused mainly on discovering genetic profiles of rare congenital disorder - Osteogenesis Imperfecta and Pamidronate treatment response towards improving bone density and collagen flexibility through personalized medicine. Nadiah joined Biomed Global Sdn Bhd in 2018 as Application Specialist (Life Sciences), currently in charge of Thermo Fisher Applied Biosystems Capillary Electrophoresis and Next Generation Sequencing platforms. |
Mr Kalidasan Vasodavan - Universiti Sains Malaysia Mr. Kalidasan Vasodavan obtained his Master of Science (Medical Microbiology) from Universiti Putra Malaysia. He was trained by SEAMEO-TROPMED Regional Centre for Microbiology, Parasitology and Entomology, IMR Kuala Lumpur and graduated his Diploma in Medical Microbiology. He also completed his Postgraduate Diploma in Bioinformatics from Perdana University. He is currently a PhD candidate at the Infectomics Cluster, Advanced Medical and Dental Institute (AMDI), Universiti Sains Malaysia. His research interests span bacteriology, virology and genome editing. |
